While Hearts of Palm are most commonly used in salads, their unique flavour and texture make them a surprisingly versatile food. Hearts of palm are great to work into other meals and snacks; bringing a delicious, nutty taste with a slight creamy texture.
Hearts of palm are cut from the core of a handful of palm tree species native to South and Central America.
For a quick appetiser add a simple vinaigrette dressing. Create a more luxurious version by wrapping in slices of smoked salmon or Parma ham. Try them grilled to serve with seafood or meat. And sliced they make a great addition to pizza, quiches and tarts.
