Ranch dressing is a creamy, tangy American dressing made from buttermilk, mayonnaise, or sour cream, blended with garlic, onion, and herbs like dill, chives, and parsley. What's harder to explain is why a dressing invented on a Californian ranch in the 1950s went on to overtake Italian dressing as America's most popular, while staying almost impossible to find on an Irish supermarket shelf. If you've ever wondered why you can't just grab a bottle in Tesco, the answer says more about food culture than you'd think.
Authentic American BBQ ingredients come down to four things: the right cut of meat, real wood smoke, a dry rub built on salt and sugar, and a sauce that changes completely depending on which state you're standing in. That last part is the bit most people get wrong. There's no single American BBQ sauce, no one true rub, no version that everyone back home agrees on, and the split between regions runs deeper than most people realise before they've actually looked into it. Understanding where that split comes from is worth more than picking up whatever bottle happens to say "BBQ" on the label.
Pumpkin puree is cooked pumpkin blended down to a smooth, thick paste. Nothing else goes into the can. No sugar. No spice. No dairy. Just pumpkin. If that sounds almost too simple for an ingredient with its own aisle in American supermarkets every pumpkin season, that's exactly the point, and it's also why so many Irish bakers get caught out the first time a recipe calls for it.
Everything bagel seasoning is a dry blend of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried onion, dried garlic and salt. It started as the topping on an everything bagel and now gets sold on its own, no bread required. That's the short answer. The much longer list of things everything bagel seasoning uses is what actually makes the jar worth keeping in the cupboard: eggs, roasted vegetables, popcorn, chicken, dips, and even the rim of a drink. Most people buy it for one thing and end up reaching for it most days of the week.
I love this bread. So eazy to slice and tastes delicous. The ingredients are what tempted me to try it, The buckwheat flour as an alternative to the ordinary breads. I will definetely be ordering again. Thank you Debbie,
